Mainly, the Research Coordination Unit is to oversee the research activities of the Centres in the institute, undertake research and enable the faculty in conducting research on certain topics assigned while contributing to the development.

Secondly, research brings in 'evidence base' that is drawn from the grassroots, which reflects current realities and enable us in understanding training needs of different stakeholders which are dynamic and thus leading to imparting latest knowledge and techniques among others. The RCU with guidance of Director General, will bring out SAMRIDDHI journal of the institute and disseminate the research findings.

The Unit will participate in Conferences and Seminars, meetings related to research and policy studies of different research institutions and organisations including NITI Aayog etc. RCU will also undertake impact evaluations of government programs to advise and help in formulating policies and act as a 'think-tank' for the state government.
